Love above. The greatest of human emotions is unconditional love, known as agape in the Bible. Agape Love always rises to the top.
Agape Love is…
Agape Love is assuming the best in your spouse.
- It says, “he’s just having a bad day,” when he’s being a stinker.
- And it’s him saying, “she’s just having a bad day,” when you are.
- It’s finding out what’s behind the bad mood instead of getting offended by it.
- It’s surrendering
my control freak tendencies and giving my spouse the freedom to be who God intended him to be.
Agape Love is loving my husband the way I want to be loved.
1 Peter 4:8 AMPC
Above all the things have intense
and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. [Prov. 10:12.]
Agape Love is Above
Notice the verse says, “above all the THINGS.” What things am I putting above love? Is agape love truly at the top, or am I letting love slide in favor of something else?
- Do I put myself above Agape Love?
- Do I put fear above Agape Love?
- Do I put my desire to please people above Agape Love?
Agape Love is the highest form of love. It’s the longest lasting love. It’s the one type of love that cannot be quenched, broken, or defiled. Seek first God’s Agape Love for you, receive it, and then be equipped to share it with others. He will show you the way.
