Did you know God’s word says we are his poetry?
We are his workmanship…
Ephesians 2:10
“Workmanship” in the language of the Bible is “poiema,” and it’s where we get our English word “poem” from. That means God planned for us to be poetry in motion, creatively and poetically joyful.
Prove yourselves doers of the word…
James 1:22
A “doer” sounds kind of boring, right? It doesn’t sound poetic at all. Imagine my surprise when I looked up the original word and found out it was “poietes.” Did you guess it? “Poietes” means poet! As we grow spiritually, we are changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who know us are as moved by the beauty in our lives as if they were reading an epic poem or listening to a moving orchestral piece.
Recently I shared a message on You Tube about becoming Mindfully Joyful. Being mindfully aware of God’s life-giving word and his incredible design of our brains can help us create poetic, joyful abundance in our lives. We took a deep look into the function of our brains and discovered how the processing of thought confirms God’s word perfectly.
It all has to do with two roads or paths in your brain…
Are you on the “Road not Taken?”
“The Road not Taken” by Robert Frost is one of my favorites. Way back in the sixth grade, I memorized it. The poem is like an old friend to me. It ends like this.
Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I took the one less travelled by. And that has made all the difference.
Robert Frost
Two roads can be two choices for your life. And taking the one less travelled by is exactly what Jesus taught us to do! Listen to Mindfully Joyful now to find out how choosing the road not taken with your thoughts can build joy in your life.
