The Trinity in a marriage generates Unity in a marriage.
“Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love? Any fellowship together in the Spirit? Are your hearts tender and compassionate?
Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.”
Philippians 2:1-2 NLT

2018 will be full of new things to praise God for, new things to learn, new things to grow our faith.
Embracing the new from the comforting familiarity of a mature marriage. ❤
“Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing his praises from the ends of the earth! Sing, all you who sail the seas, all you who live in distant coastlands. Join in the chorus, you desert towns; let the villages of Kedar rejoice! Let the people of Sela sing for joy; shout praises from the mountaintops! Let the whole world glorify the Lord; let it sing his praise.”
Isaiah 42:10-12 NLT

Oneness in marriage happens when many different fibers of life are woven together. It’s not perfect, but it’s beautiful.

“But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!”
Ruth 1:16-17 NLT

Holidays can be very stressful on marriages. Focus on your own thoughts, words, and actions. Our inner peace depends far more on what comes out of us rather than what comes into us.
“Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.”
1 Peter 3:8-9 NIV

Be a joyful tree of life in your marriage. Resist the temptation to join in with man bashers. Arrogance never makes marriage flourish.
“Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked [hostile], or stand around with sinners [offensive], or join in with mockers [arrogant]. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
Psalms 1:1-3 NLT

Thanksgiving week – and the crazy, busy month following- is this you? I’m preparing for a season of love, joy, hope, and peace – while rushing around with a grouchy spirit of criticism about all the added work on my shoulders. Sadly this spirit of criticism and complaint usually lands on my wonderful husband.
If you can relate, comment below with “I’M IN!” and join me in this simple daily prayer from now until the new year. I will message you with a downloadable graphic you can print and pray through every day.
Abba, I pray that the peace of Christ in my Christmas decorations, cards, cookies, and gifts will be matched by the peace of Christ in my heart. Above all, help me to clothe myself daily with love, which binds my husband and I together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in my heart. For as followers of Jesus we are called to live in peace. And help me to always be thankful.
Based on Colossians 3:14-15 NLT
