Thanksgiving week – and the crazy, busy month following- is this you? I’m preparing for a season of love, joy, hope, and peace – while rushing around with a grouchy spirit of criticism about all the added work on my shoulders. Sadly this spirit of criticism and complaint usually lands on my wonderful husband.
If you can relate, comment below with “I’M IN!” and join me in this simple daily prayer from now until the new year. I will message you with a downloadable graphic you can print and pray through every day.
Abba, I pray that the peace of Christ in my Christmas decorations, cards, cookies, and gifts will be matched by the peace of Christ in my heart. Above all, help me to clothe myself daily with love, which binds my husband and I together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in my heart. For as followers of Jesus we are called to live in peace. And help me to always be thankful.

Judgmental criticism of my spouse fogs the mirror so I don’t have to look at my own faults.
God longs to squeegee the mirror and help me humbly focus on healing myself with His gentle touch.
“Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanors. But God isn’t so easily diverted. He sees right through all such smoke screens and holds you to what you’ve done.”

Abba, help me change my heart, I’m leaking sarcasm again!

Praying for God’s best for your husband is praying for God’s best for you.
“Pray to me on their behalf, because if they are prosperous, you will be prosperous too.” (Jeremiah 29:7b GNB)

Sowing seeds of grace + truth into my marriage blooms in spiritual maturity.
“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”
Ephesians 4:14-15 NIV

Every marriage is a university, it’s children are the students.
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
